As the PR Coordinator for GradWIE, my responsibilities include managing the online presence of the organization via its website and social media channels such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Groupme, and our Teams channel. Additionally, I communicate with the public about the group's goals and activities to promote positive relationships with the broader community. Working closely with the Web Team Coordinator, as well as other members of the board, I lead the PR committee to ensure that our online presence and communication efforts are aligned with GradWIE's overall mission. I collaborated with the Events Coordinator to plan and promote events, creating flyers (see below) and other media to advertise and spread awareness. Overall, my role as the PR Coordinator involves enhancing relationships within the GradWIE community and beyond, using strategic communication and outreach to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of engineering.
Skills: Canva, Social media and team management, website maintenance
Awards: I received the Julia D. Erdley Graduate Scholarship in 2023 and Harry G. Miller Fellowship in Engineering in 2022 for my involvement in Graduate Women In Engineering.
In my prior position as the PR Coordinator for GradWIE, I had the opportunity to convey the essence of GradWIE's goals and establish connections with the broader community. Recently, in my role as the LF BUILD Night Coordinator, I am thrilled to continue my contributions and collaborations through initiatives like BUILD nights at the Learning Factory. This engagement not only enhanced my self-confidence and leadership skills but also inspired me to actively encourage undergraduates approaching graduate school to explore GradWIE as a supportive community. I am honored to persist in my contributions to GradWIE, an entity that transcends academia by providing mentorship, fostering camaraderie, and offering essential resources, ultimately creating a safe space for all involved.
