I play a pivotal role in organizing the Learning Factory's BUILD Nights, fostering a collaborative and inclusive engineering environment for students from all backgrounds. Focusing on practical understanding and confidence-building, I coordinate and run hands-on workshops such as making wooden planters, embroidering braille on textiles, creating LED light signs, laser-cut clocks, and many more. During these workshops, students get to use state-of-the-art tools and facilities, including power tools, woodshop machinery, 3D printers, embroidery machines, and laser cutters available at the Penn State Learning Factory.
By collaborating with industry partners and Penn State faculty, I integrate professional engineering experiences into the program, enriching students' academic and real-world insights. Additionally, I oversee event promotion, logistics management, and equipment organization to ensure seamless operations. Leading a rotational team of 60 Teaching Assistants, I prioritize inclusivity and teamwork while spearheading outreach efforts to engage a diverse student body and expand program accessibility.
Moreover, I facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration through initiatives like the Artists in Residence program, which bridges the College of Engineering and the College of Arts & Architecture. In this capacity, I assist artists in conducting workshops for engineering students to explore projects outside their usual realm.
Skills Demonstrated
Instructor: Solidworks knowledge transfer
Course Design: Course design, quizzes, grading , develop projects
Workshop: Organize, project management, logistics, skills (3D printing, laser cutting, woodshop, textiles)
Lab Maintenance: Troubleshoot machines (3d printers, laser cutters) and tool organizationÂ
As a Lab Instructor for IE 305 Product Design, Specification, and Measurement Lab, I spearheaded the training of undergraduate students in 3D modeling using Solidworks, facilitated in-class activities, and guided final projects. I was responsible for educating students on fundamental product specifications, precision instruments, and measurement techniques. In addition to these, I demonstrated leadership by supervising a team of two teaching interns.
